The beach lies on the shore of the Pacific Ocean in the northwest of the city. It is roughly a half mile m long, beginning just south of Golden Gate Point where the Golden Gate Bridge connects with the peninsulaextending southward toward the Seacliff peninsula, the Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Sutro Baths. The northern section of Baker Beach is "frequented by clothing-optional sunbathers,"  and as such it is considered a nude beach.
By Betsy Malloy. San Francisco County has only a few nude beaches, but they have a loyal following. During much of the year, it may be too cold to get outside near the ocean and take all your clothes off, but when the days are warm and sunny, they can get quite busy.

So, it's time for SFist to bring you our definitive list of the finest and best in beach destinations up and down our lovely coast. And on some of these beaches, you are welcome to strip down to nothing and show your junk off to the Pacific, and to anyone passing by. Should you be a shyer type, there are plenty of clothing non-optional spots to choose from.
Peep our favorite spots to let it all hang out. Look, clothes can occasionally come in handy, but every once in a while we just want to log some hours in our respective birthday suits. Is that totally weird? Kind of?
We go there all the time, and you should, too. At the north end of Baker Beach, there is a designated nude area. There is no way you will ever go to Baker Beach and not see the making of a Save-the-Date notice.
The views are gorgeous, and the sand is close to parking, toilets, etc. Be advised if you have small children, the closer you walk up the beach toward the Golden Gate Bridge, the more likely you will run into nude sunbathers. It was pretty shocking the first time we visited. But it is one of the best views of the Bridge you are going to find.
